We got to the lake on Saturday afternoon. Boat traffic, despite the holiday weekend, was low so I took Jack out for some skiing with most of the family on board. He did well and showed off his stuff to his mother. Sunday afternoon we hit the water again, boat traffic was more crazy at this point. David (neighbor) and I used the foil while Jack was on skis. With all the crazy traffic I had zero confidence and just rode around a bit, didn't try any jumps. Today (the 4th) we went out early, around 10:00 and Jack announced before we left that he wanted to ride a wakeboard (first time). Liu Yi also went with us and informed us she wanted to ride the kneeboard. So we loaded all the equipment up and went out. Jack was up first (as is customary) and on his 4th pull was up and riding. We kept the speed low and he just worked on balance for the most part. There is a video on the multimedia tab (see menu at top under banner). Check out his 360 at 2:10 in the video. Liu Yi had only been on a knee board one other time, last August. She immediately got up and rode behind the boat for about 9 minutes. Shortened video is also available on the multimedia tab. I rode the hydrofoil with the intent of working on jumps. I attempted a couple early, never really doing the instructions running through my head. After a while I figured I'd better land one and went for a wake jump, totally mis-timed the approach and dip and ended up doing a jump after crossing the wake (instead of using the wake as a ramp) and broke the surface and landed back down. Not much of a jump but only my 2nd landed on film (and on video on the multimedia tab) . Had a guy in a boat come up shortly after that jump and ask what it was and how he could get one. <smile>. David had not ridden in over a month before yesterday so he was a little rusty. Last time he was on a foil was at the Flatland Fly-in and he was attempting gainers (back flip). Yesterday and today he worked on jumps and landed a ton of them. David tends to "get his money's worth" and jumps literally every 5 seconds or less.
