size: 133, nice bindings too. Expect to pull him around the lake Saturday and Sunday.
Video from yesterday up, jumps actually starting to look smooth, still a ways to go but getting better all the time...
Lots of video to wade through, will get some up in next day or so. Continue to improve (slowly) my jumping abilities. Had one real nice jump, landed some messy ones and had some crashes too. Jack had his second day on a wakeboard, Neighbor Dave (foil) and his two teenage sons (wakeboards) were with us as was Dave's Sister (slalom). Here ar
Got out on the water today in misty overcast conditions. By the time we were done the sun was out.
Neighbor Dave brought his son Austin out, Austin rode a wakeboard. I think it was his first time out on the water this season. Dave did some skidders and jumps on the foil. I rode and focused on jumps, landed a few more, last one I landed was probably the highest I've jumped out of the water. Video on the multimedia tab as well as some pictures. New camera took both, entered the HD video age. three new videos from yesterday uploaded on multimedia page;
1st is of Neighbor David and of Dan P with some good carnage on the foil 2nd is of my youngest just learning how to steer a kneeboard between the wake 3rd is of me, practicing some baby jumps. Landing some, probably about a third of those attempted. Once I get more comfortable, add some speed and get jumping higher :) Today was sort of a landmark. Landed multiple jumps (3) in a day, first time for me. Confidence at a high point. Jumps still are nothing to write home about, wings barely getting out of the water but learning the technique hopefully will allow me to take them bigger soon. Rode with neighbor Dave and Dan P from work. Liu Yi also took a couple turns on the knee board and learned how to steer back and forth inside the wake. David and Dan both attempted gainers (back flip), neither quite made the full rotation and some great face plants resulted. Not sure when next time on the water will be.
Some video was shot and will be uploaded in next day or two. We got to the lake on Saturday afternoon. Boat traffic, despite the holiday weekend, was low so I took Jack out for some skiing with most of the family on board. He did well and showed off his stuff to his mother. Sunday afternoon we hit the water again, boat traffic was more crazy at this point. David (neighbor) and I used the foil while Jack was on skis. With all the crazy traffic I had zero confidence and just rode around a bit, didn't try any jumps. Today (the 4th) we went out early, around 10:00 and Jack announced before we left that he wanted to ride a wakeboard (first time). Liu Yi also went with us and informed us she wanted to ride the kneeboard. So we loaded all the equipment up and went out. Jack was up first (as is customary) and on his 4th pull was up and riding. We kept the speed low and he just worked on balance for the most part. There is a video on the multimedia tab (see menu at top under banner). Check out his 360 at 2:10 in the video. Liu Yi had only been on a knee board one other time, last August. She immediately got up and rode behind the boat for about 9 minutes. Shortened video is also available on the multimedia tab. I rode the hydrofoil with the intent of working on jumps. I attempted a couple early, never really doing the instructions running through my head. After a while I figured I'd better land one and went for a wake jump, totally mis-timed the approach and dip and ended up doing a jump after crossing the wake (instead of using the wake as a ramp) and broke the surface and landed back down. Not much of a jump but only my 2nd landed on film (and on video on the multimedia tab) . Had a guy in a boat come up shortly after that jump and ask what it was and how he could get one. <smile>. David had not ridden in over a month before yesterday so he was a little rusty. Last time he was on a foil was at the Flatland Fly-in and he was attempting gainers (back flip). Yesterday and today he worked on jumps and landed a ton of them. David tends to "get his money's worth" and jumps literally every 5 seconds or less.
New/old video added (way towards the bottom - trying to keep it chronological. Video from August 2010 on Lake Oconee Georgia.
Riders include: Cliff Nate Brad me (briefly, before I could sustain a ride) Some great riding by Cliff and Brad, worth checking out if you haven't seen it before. |
